Hi, I’m Gökçen — a sculptor and graphic designer living and working in my cozy home studio in Kingston upon Thames, which I share with my family and our sweet 12-year-old golden retriever.

I’m endorsed by Arts Council England as a Global Talent, and my creative practice centers around sculpture, storytelling, and community. Alongside my own work, I offer private art and craft lessons in this welcoming space. Whether you're here to learn tufting, explore texture painting, or simply unwind through creative play, you're always invited to pull up a chair at The Messy Table.

Looking ahead, I’m dreaming even bigger. My goal is to grow The Messy Table into a dedicated tufting studio that can host up to 8 students at a time—a space for making, gathering, and sharing. To help make this vision a reality, I’ve launched a donation campaign. As a thank you, all founding friends will receive special discounts on classes for a full year.

If you'd like to support the journey, please take a look at my cause.

Q: Who can join your workshops?
A: My workshops are currently designed for adults and supervised children. I keep class sizes small—1 person for tufting and a maximum of 2 for other crafts—so you receive plenty of personal attention. This will stay in place until I open a larger studio, where we’ll be able to welcome more students.

Q: How should I prepare for a tufting class?
A: After you book your tufting session, I’ll send you a link where you can upload your chosen design. You’ll also receive tips on how to pick or adjust your design, and you'll have the option to choose from a selection of my original designs. I’ll transfer your design onto the tufting cloth before your session, so you can dive straight into using the tufting gun. This helps you make the most of your 2-hour class, which is perfect for creating a 25x25 cm rug.

Q: What if I can't finish my tufting design in 2 hours?
A: No problem! You can book a follow-up mini session to complete your rug, or I can finish it for you for a small additional fee. If your design is too detailed for a single session, I’m happy to help simplify it beforehand to make sure you leave with a finished piece you love.

Q: What do I need to bring to class?
A: Nothing at all—just yourself and your creativity! All materials and tools are provided.

Q: How do I book a class?
A: You can book through the booking platform linked on my website, or feel free to contact me directly for private lessons and special requests.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations made after that may incur a fee.

Q: Is your studio dog-friendly?
A: Yes! My gentle 12-year-old golden retriever is often in the studio and loves having quiet company. If you have allergies or concerns, just let me know before booking.

Q: Are your workshops suitable for beginners?
A: Absolutely! All experience levels are welcome, and I tailor each session to your pace and comfort level.

Q: Do you offer workshops for children?
A: I plan to offer kids’ workshops soon. For now, I offer private lessons for children with adult supervision.
